The area of Khotyn Raion was merged into Dnistrovskyi Raion.[1][2] According to the 2001 census, the majority of the Khotyn district's population spoke Ukrainian (91.57%), with Romanian (6.96%) and Russian (1.27%) speakers in the minority.[3] The last estimate of the raion population was

At the time of disestablishment, the raion consisted of eight hromadas:[4]

Three villages, Kolinkivtsi, Hrozyntsi, and Bochkivtsi, belonged to Toporyvtsi rural hromada, mainly based in Novoselytsia Raion. After the reform, they were transferred to Chernivtsi Raion.[5]
